The existence of a temple in Hindu tradition or Sanatan Dharma holds special importance to a particular place. A temple or a Mandir is the house of god and is especially dedicated to a particular deity. The rituals and customs performed at a particular mandir are based on the sacred deity (-es) installed at the altar. Every Hindu temple has a priest or a team of priests who perform the puja at this place. And talking about the Hindu temples in Delhi, the priests get residence in the temple area only. The very pious Shree Venkateshwar Devasthanam mandir(modern Hindu temple in Delhi) has special residential blocks built in the premises, where the holy priests reside. This temple has been built in the image of Tirupati Balaji mandir, the largest Hindu temple in Delhi with more than 6,000 employees.

The Architecture of a Tirupati Balaji Temple in Delhi

There are three main styles in which any of these sacred places (Hindu temples) are erected. And these are:

  1. Nagara in the north: this is followed by all the north Indian temples
  2. Dravidian in the south: this is followed by all the south Indian hindu temples
  3. Vesara: the fusion of Nagara and Dravidian style, which can be seen all over the country.

Though these have their particular specifications in design and structure; however, certain features mark them as one in different forms. These features are:

  •  Gopurams: the tall gateways (in the south)
  • Tanks for bathing (more specifically with the south Indian temple)
  • The walls have carvings of different deities (in the south)

How Shree Devasthanam in Delhi stands out in the crowd

The Hindu temple in Delhi has generally seen with an orange flag and spires above the shrine; a south Indian temple is entirely different. So, these two vary in their art and structure and  temples in south india is heavily influenced by the Dravidian style. The Shree Venkateshwar Devasthanam temple in West Delhi very appropriately reflects this style. And to know more, you should visit this temple at least once to observe its grandeur. Besides being so uniquely designed in the Dravidian style, this mandir is a space that reflects a mixture of modern temples in Delhi having a blend of traditional styles. This is a communal sacred site that extends its services to charity too. The trust that runs this temple also supports needy people and offer donations to other sacred sites like gurudwara, mosque, and churches. So, this indeed is a symbol of Hinduism that in every community every man is equal and should be helped in tough times with utter sympathy. Being tolerant and empathetic towards the weaker is what defines Hinduism.

If you are a hard-core believer in Tirupati Balaji, then you should pay a visit to temple in najafgarh. And also, if you believe in charity, then again it is a must for you to connect with them to make their and your giving an offer made to the Almighty.
